Howdy,

I have a question about how Forklift works under certain situations. Specifically, the two following.

1. I am on my home network where I have a macbook pro, mac mini, and media server running XP pro. I would like to transfer something from the mini to the media server from my laptop on the couch using the macbook pro and forklift. First, do the files route through the laptop? Second, will the transfer make use of the ethernet connection, and hence go very fast rather than relying on wireless?

2. Same as before, but my laptop is now in another part of the world with me. Surely the files won't route through the laptop in this case.

Thanks,

Target

Well, actually, your data does get routed through the laptop on which you are running ForkLift.
The FXP feature, which allows direct server-to-server copy, works for FTP servers only.

It's easy enough to set up FTP servers on both your Mac and your Windows box- then they just need public IPs so you can access them from anywhere and you're set!
