How about a "Duplicate" contextual menu for files and folders.
Ideally "Right Click>>Duplicate Filename"
Then this displays a proxy file with the same name as the original with the text highlighted for editing. Optionally you might choose to make the duplicate file "filename copy.ext" and auto select the space and the word copy.
After the file is named (or the default name is kept by pressing enter, or losing focus) the copy operation begins (on the remote server if possible)
Duplicating is probably my #1 operation (yay for templated HTML files) in Fetch that I miss in Forklift
