I am using macbook pro, 10.5.2. I want to assign custom keyboard shortcuts for moving/coping files, but when following the [simple] instructions, it doesn't seem to work. I select the item, then double click it, followed by the keys I want to assign.

On a macbook, the function key needs to be held for the F keys to work, but I cant get anything to assign at all. Where am I going wrong?

Love the program by the way!

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan,

I guess the help is in want of some screenshots :)

When you want to assign a new keybinding to an action, you select the item in the Preferences page (you got it right until this part), then you should click the area on the right side of the selected item, where the original shortcut would be displayed. This makes an editable box to materialize there, where you can enter the new key combo.

Incidentally, if you are looking for commander like shortcuts (F4-edit, F5-copy, etc) you can just select the commander Key Binding Set in the shortcut preferences panel.

Hope this helped.

Hi,

I'm really fond of the "rename" key on the mac keyboard and I couldn't help but notice that I can't bind it to the "rename" command.
Is this a known limitation?

Thanks in advance

Hi Garabedian,

You seem to be right - ForkLift can't use this key for shortcut binding. We put this on our todo list, and will enable the key in a future version.

I'm a little bit puzzled: what is the "rename"-key?

Csaba: Thanks! ;)

Schlaefer : The "rename" key is a useful key that appears on laptop keyboards. On the following picture, it is the rightmost key on the spacebar row, just next to the left arrow key. Macbook Keyboard (http://lowendmac.com/mail/mb07/art/macbook_keyboard.jpg)

This key seems to be absent from the latest external apple keyboards.

Ah, thanks for your answer. This is the Enter key. :)
