Poor performance with large SMB directories

I need to hit an SMB directory with 22,000+ files in it. It takes FL 15-20 minutes to open the directory. Finder is much faster. Why does it take so long for FL to read the directory? Is there any sort of tuning I can do to speed this up? The slowness makes FL unusable for doing things with this directory, which is an important part of my work.

Hi,

We will try to reproduce this. I think the long delay might be because FL is reading the thumbnail previews for the 22000+ files.
Could you please try to turn off 'Show preview' in 'View > View Options' if this is indeed what's causing the delay?
